Portrait sessions last 1-2 hours on-location. Minimum of 20-50 individually edited high resolution images available for viewing in your personal password protected gallery within 2-3 weeks of session. Preferable time frame would be within ten days of birth but can take place up to two weeks after baby arrives.
Newborns are best when photographed within the first two weeks of life, though preferably within the first week of life. We’ll allow plenty of time for feeding, changing, and calming the baby, so don’t stress about the time it takes to capture good images. Newborns typically look best when photographed in their own skin, but make sure to set out any mementos (blankets, clothing, hats, etc.) that you’d like to appear in some of the photos so we don’t forget.
Before your newborn session you’ll need to make sure a few things are done to ensure that your baby is happy and ready to be photographed. Depending on the package you purchase the prints, images and products will vary in price.
First, you’ll need to make sure the baby is fed twenty to thirty minutes before your session. We will schedule plenty of time to take breaks to feed the baby as needed afterwards, but this helps us to get started right away.
When you arrive, I will ask that you undress your little one and loosen the diaper about twenty minutes before your scheduled session. This will prevent clothing and diaper marks on the skin.
Then I’ll take the baby and start our session! Relax and don’t worry if your baby gets fussy, or makes a mess on one of my blankets…I’m a mom and I understand how those things work! we’ll have plenty of time to get the sleepy, snuggly shots we want, so don’t fret. After we’ve gotten some solo shots of the baby, we’ll move into family shots and capture you and your new little one as a family.
